From tranquil strolls by the lake to swimming or tubing at Ichetucknee Springs, Lake City has everything you need to create cherished memories with your loved one. Follow this itinerary to ensure your romantic getaway to Florida’s Springlands is nothing short of magical!

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AND RELAXATION

Kick off your romantic weekend by checking into The Blanche Hotel, a charming landmark in downtown Lake City. This historic hotel first opened its doors in 1902 and was considered the finest hotel in the region. In fact, it was home to Florida’s first elevator–a cutting-edge innovation at the time.

Eventually, The Blanche was even added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Nowadays, it makes the perfect base to explore Florida’s Springlands with your partner, combining historic origins with contemporary comforts for an intimate atmosphere. Imagine staying where legends like Johnny Cash and Al Capone once did!

After settling into your room, enjoy a romantic sunset stroll just across the street around the picturesque Lake Desoto. As the evening deepens, head to Marion Street Bistro for an unforgettable dining experience.

Savor delectable dishes like local gulf oysters, seafood chowder, and bang-bang shrimp while enjoying the warm and inviting ambiance. It’s the perfect way to cap off your first evening in

DAY 2: ADVENTURE AND PAMPERING

On your second day in Lake City, make the quick 30-minute drive to Ichetucknee Springs State Park, home to some of the best freshwater springs in North Florida. This park is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings, offering a romantic escape into nature.

Ichetucknee Springs State Park

Begin your day with a thrilling tubing adventure, gliding down the Ichetucknee River. You can rent tubes on-site and choose from two launch points, Midpoint or Dampier’s Landing, ensuring a leisurely float together. Since the park has capacity limits for tubers, we highly recommend making a reservation and completing your waiver form online.

After tubing, take a refreshing swim in the Ichetucknee Head Spring, a designated National Natural Landmark. Alternatively, head to Blue Hole Spring, where the constant 72-degree waters are perfect for both swimming and snorkeling. If you and your partner are certified divers, you can even opt to explore the 580-foot-long cave system at Blue Hole, beginning 40 feet beneath the surface.

Once you’ve thoroughly explored the springs, head back to Lake City for a refreshing shower followed by a relaxing couples massage at SōL Studio. Located near The Blanche, their signature Ashiatsu massage uses skilled practitioners’ feet to deliver deep, consistent pressure, relieving muscle discomfort and enhancing mobility. This unique technique ensures a deeply relaxing experience, making it the perfect way to share quality time together.

End your exciting day with dinner and drinks at Halpatter Brewing Company, Lake City’s first brewery. Named after the Seminole chief Halpatter Tustenuggee, meaning “Warrior Chief Alligator,” this brewery pays homage to the area’s first settlers, who lived near Lake DeSoto. It also often hosts live music events, adding to the vibrant atmosphere and making it an ideal spot for a night out.

Be sure to try their flagship beers, like the O’Leno Cream Ale or the Big Hal American Brown Ale–each with a name connected to local history. Pair your drinks with some of their delicious pub fare, like mouthwatering burgers, Cuban sandwiches, or boneless wings, to complete a memorable second day in Lake City with your partner.

DAY 3: DOWNTOWN LAKE CITY

Start your last day in town with a delightful breakfast at XAPA Coffee & Bakery, where everything is made from scratch using 100% local ingredients. Indulge in their freshly baked bagels, cinnamon rolls, scones, or muffins paired perfectly with a latte made from locally sourced coffee beans and honey. Don’t have much of a sweet tooth? Opt for the avocado toast on house-baked sourdough toast or a savory quiche!

Today, we’ll be taking it easy with some relaxing retail therapy. Start your exploration on Marion Avenue, the heart of downtown, where you can find a variety of local stores. For example, Blue Goose Studio is one of our secret jewels. Here, artist Janet Moses showcases antiques, re-purposed furniture, and artwork, making it a must-visit for those looking for one-of-a-kind treasures.

Other places you won’t want to miss include Southern Sisters Boutique and Embroidery, home to adorable clothing, accessories, and gifts, and Gateway Art Gallery, where you can purchase pieces created by local artists, such as paintings, pottery, woodcarvings, and more.

Before you hit the road to make your way back home, consider grabbing a quick lunch at one of our exceptional local eateries like The Tavern Brewery and Irish Pub or Maggie’s Place Latin Cafe. As a cherry on top, grab a delicious gourmet cupcake from Brittany’s Cupcake Shoppe.
